Kate & Pete – Wilton Castle, England – Part I

With almost 100 Bermuda weddings now behind me I can’t express just how exciting and different it was to shoot this amazing wedding at Wilton castle, so refreshing! Pete called me over a year ago, before most plans had even been set to ensure that I was onboard for this and I’ve been looking forward to it ever since.

Thousands of miles away from home in the little town of Ross on Wye set beside the Welsh border sits Wilton Castle. With around 800 years of history it’s hard to try and imagine all that must have happened there over the centuries. The original castle is long gone, destroyed by a fire 350 years ago but much of the ruins remain and it’s clear to see that it must have been spectacular when originally built, its strategic location played a pivotal role in many a conflict.

The property owners have done such an amazing job with the restoration and upkeep of the grounds, the gardens are just spectacular with no stone left unturned. Kate had themed the wedding so perfectly with all of the details of an English country wedding, even local wild flowers gathered from the region, bound with twine, exactly how they would have been.

The day started with Kate getting ready in the newly restored Manor House, the original worn stonework was the perfect backdrop. Under an enormous oak tree with the (swelling) Wye river in the background vows were exchanged and so began such a beautiful day!
